It has been a bittersweet couple of days for me. My brother, sister-in-law, and nephews came home for the week and it has been absolutely wonderful. I was able to play hostess to them for a couple of nights – something I’ve wanted to do for so long! But it’s always the worst when it’s time for good-byes. For the past 13 years my brother hasn’t been “home” permanently. Between basic training, active duty, deployment, and work, he has been back and forth between states and even countries. So when we have the chance to see him and his family, it’s time for work to be put on the back-burner.
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a tad of a workaholic. It’s hard for me to put work away knowing I haven’t finished (sometimes Paul even has to remind me to stop working) – and if I’m not working, I’m thinking about the work I have to do. Of course it’s not always like this, but in the midst of wedding season it’s hard to find time when work isn’t looming over my head. But I managed to put work out of my head while my family was in town. And it was wonderful. :)
They arrived on Sunday and stayed until Tuesday morning. We showed them around our little lakeside town, ate dinner on the lake, met with my sister and her family at a water park, had a traditional spaghetti dinner, enjoyed a bonfire, ate s’mores, watched the stars come out – absolutely bliss.
I’m so glad I decided to enjoy life vs. worrying about work. :)
Enjoy some of my favorites, friends. :)
