I'm Nikki, a creative old soul who loves tea time, tip-toeing through gardens, mounds of books, swaying to records, watercolors, sunset walks with our three yorkies, and star-gazing with Paul. This blog carries snippets of my life with just us two (five with Rusty, Lucy, & Ethel) - I hope it brings you happiness as you snuggle in with something warm and delicious and begin reading. Enjoy, friends!

If I had to choose:

Maudie MacBride’s Tea In the Woods

Welcome to Maudie MacBrides! Tea for four, please?

It was like stepping back in time to the more glamourous, yet still simple, days of life. We pulled into the private driveway, immediately thinking we had come to the wrong place – surely this gorgeous house was not a public tearoom! But it was and we were so happy! Sit back friends, get your cup of tea or coffee, perhaps a slice of cake (why not?!), and let me take you to our tea party at Maudie MacBride’s Tea In the Woods. Some music too, right friends? Enjoy. :)

While walking to the front door we’re serenaded by running water, songbirds, and little ducks and geese. The wind likes to chime in too.

And just like that, you’ve stepped back in time (or in a really beautiful decorating magazine). The kitchen, bathroom, entry room – every room is carefully decorated and arranged as if the owners, Carol and her husband, want us to escape all the worries and cares of reality, travel to a world unlike our own and just be, which is what we will do, dear friends.

So many beautiful vintage pieces scatter the rooms. You could stay here all day just admiring everything.

Oh I just love that little chocolate tin. Can you just picture flipping that open with your white, satin glove, grabbing a chocolate while listening to records?

And then could you just picture yourself sitting down at this beautiful desk writing a lovely, hand-written letter to your love using an ink bottle and a large, black feather pen, surrounded by Beatrix Potter figurines?? Dreamy.

The most gorgeous dishes.

Once you look around in the front rooms, you come into the circular room (you saw it in the first photo) to find our beautiful table. Again, everything is so carefully decorated and arranged; a table for ladies.

Here comes our food and tea. You don’t even want to touch it, it’s so pretty! The tea is the featured tea, Maudie’s Rose Romance, all the way from the Ritz in Paris! Charmant!

Don’t forget to look up – more glamour!

When one takes photos at a tea room, one holds up her teacup. (That’s my Nana on the left and my sister on the right. Such lovely ladies, don’t you think?)

My lovely mother on the left and yours truly on the right! Can you tell we’re all related? My goodness. :)

Look outside, you’re sure to see some lovely things.

Dessert has arrived and my goodness, it’s delicious.

Not just any frosting on the cupcakes – Italian Butter frosting. Just wonderful!

Picture perfect, wouldn’t you say?

And then because the outdoors is calling you, you take a step outside onto the Beauty & the Beast style balcony.

Flowers make your heart skip a beat, so you meander around those for awhile.

You see ducks flying in, splashing about, making this tranquil setting even more picturesque.

For larger parties there’s more room outside – perfection!

You peek in to see what the friends are doing – chatting away and sipping some tea, of course!

More flowers, my favorite.

More music? Why yes!

There’s more room on the other side! How perfect!

Even the driveway is stunning. Can you believe we’re only a few blocks from a highway?

Like something out of a magazine!

Everyone comes out to enjoy the balcony. :)

Sisters, sisters, la la la la la la la la la sisters!

We all go down to the grounds towards the gift shop (gift shop? you think. You mean there’s more wonderfulness to this place??) Also, don’t forget to have a chat with Carol – it’s like chatting with an old friend.

We pass the bonfire pit, fountains…

…a fairy, just adding more magical goodness to this place…

…more flowers…

…and tea party settings (in your head you’re thinking how wonderful it would be to sip in the garden)…

…and then we’re here! Into the gift shop we go!

There’s so much to see and so much to buy!

What’s a tea party without hats??

Even our receipt is scrapbook-worthy. So is my big sister. :)

And then it’s time to leave, even though none of us want to. But don’t worry, we’ll be back during the Christmas season when (as Carol says it) you get to sit in the circular room while the snow is falling and you feel like you’re inside a magical snow globe. Yes please. :)

Friends, go check out Carol’s website. Since there’s a minimum party of four (which makes sense because really, you have the entire tea room to yourself), call your three (or more) favorite girlfriends, put on your prettiest dress, your favorite shade of lipstick, maybe even a hat and gloves (because why not?), and step back in time while sipping on straight-from-Paris tea! And don’t forget to tell Carol I say hi. :) xoxo!

Greetings to you. Your story and photos tell a wonderful story. Thank you for the time that went into this.

We are looking for a special place to do a bridal shower in the Fall.

Was curious to know what kind of costs were involved. We are not sure of numbers yet, but would definitely be under 20 people.

Would love to hear any more of your thoughts when you are able.

      Hi Sue!

Thank you so much for the kind words! Carole’s place is absolutely wonderful! You will love it there!

I really don’t remember the cost – I think I had to contact her to hear the amount and to make the reservation. It definitely was reasonable, I remember that. But as far as exact number, I’m not entirely sure.

You will all have a blast! If I had known about this place for my wedding 5 years ago, I would definitely had requested to have my shower here. And in the fall?? Breathtaking! Enjoy Sue! :)

Wow! I would love to visit this place! It looks incredible! Especially in the winter too :)
