I'm Nikki, a creative old soul who loves tea time, tip-toeing through gardens, mounds of books, swaying to records, watercolors, sunset walks with our three yorkies, and star-gazing with Paul. This blog carries snippets of my life with just us two (five with Rusty, Lucy, & Ethel) - I hope it brings you happiness as you snuggle in with something warm and delicious and begin reading. Enjoy, friends!

October 15th, 2011 | Our Wedding

I have been going back and forth about what to write for this post. Maybe my brain is fried, but I literally cannot put together a sentence to save my life (I’m exaggerating, but you get my drift). I was debating on either telling you all about our day in details, or to tell you some things I’ve learned in the three years we’ve been married. And I can’t really decide which, so I don’t think I’ll write either. Perhaps I’ll save the things I’ve learned about marriage for a later post…perhaps I shall just tell you that this day was absolutely incredible. It was everything I hoped for and dreamed of. I’d been planning my wedding for as long as I can remember and having Paul be at the end of the aisle waiting for me was the highlight of my life. Of course we had obstacles to get through and friends and family drama to deal with, as do most couples when they’re in the midst of wedding planning, but all of it was completely worth it when I saw his face. And yes, he may have been crying. :) I don’t know exactly how to put into words how blissful I felt throughout the entire day – it truly was a whirlwind and it’s hard to catch your breath and just relax and enjoy.  People would tell us to just sit down, and watch. Watch your family and friends talking and laughing among themselves, watch the people dancing to the music…just watch and enjoy. And I actually did. Maybe not for very long, but I made sure to sit for a moment and breathe. And I made sure during our vows I was in the moment. I wasn’t thinking about whether or not my hair looked okay, if there would be enough food at dinner, if the reception looked good enough – I was just facing Paul saying what I had imagined myself saying for, what seemed like, a lifetime. I was finally marrying Paul Tran – I felt like I was walking on air. How lucky am I to have someone so amazing to spend the rest of my life with?? Even now, I’ll just be looking at him and think to myself, I am so lucky – this man chose me. And I chose him. And I would do it all over again, every day of the week, every week of the year, and every year for the rest of my life. Love you more than anything, Paulie. :) xoxoxo

Our wedding day, documented by the lovely Meg Cooper Photography. :)

Oh how I just loved my flowers. They even had little pearls. :)

My lovely momma getting me ready with my sister in the background. :)

I did the makeup for some of my ladies. :) Just doing my bridal duties.

Love this. My brother, brother-in-law, Paulie, and two good friends. :)

I just love my ring – he did such a good job. :)

The ladies – a friend, a cousin, a sister, and another cousin. :)

My grandpa came out during our photo time and of course wanted a photo of us. :)

He’s just so handsome. :)

:) Love my daddy.

This face just makes me melt.

Just married!!

Our reception was at Afton Alps – such an amazing venue. Brides, I highly recommend it!!

Love this.

I hope this doesn’t sound conceited, but I just love this one too. :)

We seem to be fun during photos…:)

How perfect is that wind?!

So glad we got a photo of my shoes! I lost them in a bag at our reception along with my veil and haven’t seen it since. :( Friends!! If you’re reading this and know where it is, I’ll still take it back!! Ha!

We tried to keep our spending down as much as we could so we used fake flowers, acorns (thank you to Mom and Dad for picking them up out of Nana’s yard!!), and lanterns for decor. :)

We decided against a cake because a. I hate cake and b. Cinnabon is Paul’s favorite food. :)

Life Needs Frosting. Touche.

Tony saying the prayer (and he would also lead us in the Italian Tarantella dance – best. dance. ever.)

Nana and Gramps. :)

Our niece and nephew. :)

Love him. We danced to Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight”. :)

Love this one of me and Daddy. :) We danced to Heartland’s “I Loved Her First.” :)

I hope you enjoyed our day, friends!! It truly was amazing and I can’t wait to share a lifetime of anniversaries with that wonderful man. :) xoxoxo

P.S. Thanks for the makeup (at both our weddings!), Dago!
