I'm Nikki, a creative old soul who loves tea time, tip-toeing through gardens, mounds of books, swaying to records, watercolors, sunset walks with our three yorkies, and star-gazing with Paul. This blog carries snippets of my life with just us two (five with Rusty, Lucy, & Ethel) - I hope it brings you happiness as you snuggle in with something warm and delicious and begin reading. Enjoy, friends!

Autumn Has Arrived!

Autumn is officially here in the Tran house.

When I used to live with my parents, my mom did an amazing job bringing the four seasons into our house. Especially during fall and Christmas. I used to love when she’d pull out the decorating tubs, gather all the non-seasonally decor, put them on the dining room table to be stored away until spring, and start pulling out the fall decorations that I hadn’t seen since the previous year. When the fall decor came out, our favorite Halloween movies would start playing at night when Dad would make popcorn; “Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” “Marc Summer’s Halloween Special,” “Blackbeard’s Ghost,” and so many more.

As I got older, moved out, and became bombarded with school and homework, I began to almost forget about the holidays. I was so busy with school and work that all of a sudden I would realize that Halloween is in 2 days and I hadn’t even gone to the apple orchard, or pumpkin patch. I was never fully able to enjoy the holidays during school, unless I went back to visit Mom and Dad. Now that I’m DONE WITH SCHOOL, I thought I would be able to enjoy the seasons more. I thought I’d have all the time in the world to decorate, garden, bake pies, visit apple orchards, etc.

Boy, was I wrong.

It’s already October 8th and I’m just putting up our decorations. I’ve been crazy busy this season and I almost let autumn slip right by me again. Not this year! The decor is up, the mums and pumpkins are on the front step, Paul and I have been enjoying bonfires on our free nights, and this weekend I think I’ll ask him to take me to a pumpkin patch/apple orchard! Perhaps we’ll even pick some apples and bake an apple pie!

So enjoy parts of our house and yard and take some time to enjoy the fall weather, friends!! :)

My mom makes these banners. I’m in love with them!! I’m trying to talk her into making an Etsy account to sell these babies. :)

Don’t mind the dirty screen…thanks to Cassie for framing our wedding invite! :)

It’s nothing too exciting, but I love it. :)
