I'm Nikki, a creative old soul who loves tea time, tip-toeing through gardens, mounds of books, swaying to records, watercolors, sunset walks with our three yorkies, and star-gazing with Paul. This blog carries snippets of my life with just us two (five with Rusty, Lucy, & Ethel) - I hope it brings you happiness as you snuggle in with something warm and delicious and begin reading. Enjoy, friends!

Code of the Elves | Part 2

‘Tis the season, friends!! Can you feel that lovely Christmas magic dancing through your home? Making your house smell like delicious pine and cinnamon? Omigoodness, I just get all butterflies and cozy just thinking about this time of the year and it is finally here!! Christmas Eve is TOMORROW!! And before you know it we’re getting ready for the loveliness that is spring – isn’t life just grand? :)

Am I coming off a little too strong tonight? I can’t help it! I’m just so excited for the next couple of days; tomorrow will be my first time hosting Christmas dinner!! Typically we do Christmas with my family on Christmas Eve, but not this year. So, Paul and I were planning on having a low-key dinner, just the two of us, and then finishing the night watching our favorite movie “It’s A Wonderful Life” like we always do. But, we just recently found out that our lovely neighbors do not have plans with their families either, which means I’m hosting for everyone and I couldn’t be more thrilled!! Paul and I went grocery shopping last night and everything is waiting patiently on the counter for me to start using. Our family usually has a big, formal, old-fashioned, pasta dinner – can’t get more “comfort food” than that – and since I’m hosting our friends, I shall be the one creating our traditional dinner; mostaccioli, homemade sauce, garlic bread, salad, Italian sausage, meatballs (my mouth is watering already). Sounds heavenly, I know. :) And before dinner Paul and I are going to see “A Charlie Brown Christmas” play!! I just can’t wait.

A few posts ago I shared with you our outside decor for the Christmas season, so tonight I am sharing with you the inside (and it’s oh so cozy, friends – bring your cup of tea). Enjoy. :)

Christmas carolers given to me from my mom – these used to decorate our house when we were kids. :)

Baby Jesus is tucked in among the books in my shelves, waiting for his birthday. :)

Welcome to our humble abode, friends. :) xoxo

Since I’ll be busy the next couple of days, I shall be biding you a good-night and wishing you all a very merry Christmas! Drink hot cocoa, watch your favorite classic Christmas movies, toast a Christmas wish for you and your family & friends, sing carols, listen to Bing and Nat King Cole, give hugs, snuggle with your loves, read a favorite Christmas book, eat, drink, be merry!! :) xoxoxo
