I'm Nikki, a creative old soul who loves tea time, tip-toeing through gardens, mounds of books, swaying to records, watercolors, sunset walks with our three yorkies, and star-gazing with Paul. This blog carries snippets of my life with just us two (five with Rusty, Lucy, & Ethel) - I hope it brings you happiness as you snuggle in with something warm and delicious and begin reading. Enjoy, friends!

Think Springish Thoughts | Our Home in Spring

Hello friends!! I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve chatted with you! I hope you all had a lovely Easter, spring break, etc., and I hope you were all able to enjoy that burst of gorgeous weather we had! Although the weather looks and feels extra gloomy today, at least we know (or are crossing our fingers at least) that the madness of winter has gone into hibernation yet again. Plus all this rain we’ll be getting means things will be budding, grass will be greener on our side, and new life will be here. :) Paul and I just bought our first hummingbird feeder and cannot wait to see the little loves outside our window. And if they don’t come, then we’re planning on getting a regular bird feeder since we have an abundance of birds just outside our house. :) I can’t wait for the momma’s to start building their nests in our trees like they always do – last year during a horrible storm, one of our little friends never came back to her babies and they ended up falling out of our tree. :( I’m hoping they pick a better spot for a nest this year so we don’t have to worry about them again. :(

But on to happier things!! :)

The title of today’s post speaks for itself, but I’m going to help it along by adding some lovely springish photos to encourage our thoughts. :) As some of you might know, I had surgery last month (I mentioned it in an earlier blog post but I didn’t go into detail) and since then I’ve been in recovery mode. If you’re wondering (and if you’re not wondering, feel free to skip to the photos :)), no worries, I’m completely fine and the surgery was a positive one – something I’ve been needing for a long time and I’m so relieved and excited that I had it done. Now my life can go on and the quality of it will be so much better. :) Since then I’ve been staying away from work (6-8 week recovery), hence the lack of blog posts and Facebook updates, etc. but what can I say?? I miss you. :) So here I am! In the comfort of our home with a very cuddly puppy, I’m sending you springish thoughts and photos!

During the first week after surgery, my mom played housemaid/nurse to me while Paul was at work, and while she was here I received so many wonderful cards and beautiful flowers (thank you again everyone!!). On one of those days I also received an adorable package of goodies from wonderful family friends (hint: their daughter/my best friend just got married in February and you may have seen a lot of photos from that day :)). Naturally, me and mom decided we had to take photos of them – they were just too cute!! So to begin our spring day, take a looksie at these cookies!! :)

And since the weather isn’t cooperating, let’s bring the spring inside. :)

All of these photos may look different only because I like to experiment with my Photoshop actions. :)

Although bringing spring inside is wonderful, I think it’s time we take a stroll outside down memory lane of last year’s spring.

They should make floors actually look like this – how beautiful would that be for a wedding venue??

You can’t think about spring without some wildlife…

Nice weather means more nights dedicated to star-gazing. And bonfires, of course. :)

Spring also means more happy, carefree days for this little love. :) This is how I feel when spring has finally come – don’t you?? :)

Spring also means gardening and if you remember from last year, Paul and I got the gardening bug really bad. We can’t wait to start!!

And of course spring means lakeview dining, watching the boats come in and sail away while sharing a bowl of New England clam chowder.

What better way to end a spring day, filled with gardening, star-gazing, bonfires, etc. than dinner under the lights?? Swooooon.

Have I got you in the spring mood?? I hope so. :) I’ll try to be on here again, sooner than later!! Have a lovely day, friends!! xoxoxo
